We wanted to share a little bit about ourselves and our incredible journey to start a new digital church.

After spending almost a decade on staff at The City Church (Churchome), we were sent out publicly by Pastors Wendell and Gini Smith in April 2007 to be the Senior Associate Pastors at a small community church in Castle Rock, Washington. We went from the big city to a small rural town of about 2000 people.

In the summer of 2009, we felt the Lord stirring our hearts to take steps of faith and move to plant a church in Miami, Florida! Little did we know that Jesus had other plans. Mother's Day 2010 was our first Sunday as the new Lead Pastors of what would become The Rock Church in Castle Rock, WA.

From 2010-2017, we had some incredible life-changing moments leading a very progressive and growing church in Castle Rock and planting two additional campuses in Longview and Olympia, WA..

In the summer of 2016, we met with Ben Sigman, Lead Pastor of Timberlake Church, and out of that meeting we would see our two church locations (Castle Rock and Olympia) and Timberlake's four locations, becoming one church in six locations.

In 2017, we said goodbye to our church family in Castle Rock and moved to Olympia to make plans for a relaunch of the Olympia location. God once again had other plans for the Hughes! After only living in Olympia for only three months, we packed up and moved to Kirkland, Washington, to assume the role of Campus Pastors at Timberlake's Woodinville/Bothell Campus. In the summer of 2017, on a trip to a Pastor's Conference, the Lord spoke clearly to Jared that we were called to be Lead Pastors and to start making plans.

In the Fall of 2017 we began making plans to launch Canvas Church in Bothell, WA with the help and support of Pastor Ben Sigman and the Pacific Northwest Conference, and January 2018 Canvas Church began!

2020 for Canvas Church was an incredible year both full of challenges and miracles. God spoke to both Pastors Jared and Angie during all of the challenges to pivot and focus on church online. As we began to pray and make plans Hope City Church LIVE began to emerge and January 2021 Hope City Church was launched as a fully digital church community.

Here is our story! It's not the whole story, but our story is like your story, it has ups and downs, good days and bad days, victories, and defeats. Our story like your story is painted with brushes of faith, hope, love, and grace. Our story like yours is not just our story, it's the story of hundreds of other people who have touched our lives, and we have touched theirs.
